DE PERE – St. Norbert College handled Lakeland University 89-67 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center, shooting 66.1 percent from the floor in what is the program's second-best single-game shooting effort in program history.
The Green Knights (17-4, 12-1 NACC) held a healthy lead over the Muskies for most of the game, blowing them out of the water in the second half with a 22-point win.
Shots from beyond the arc separated the two teams, with the Green Knights scoring five in the first 10 minutes. Kalina Winslow went 2-for-2 in the first quarter, while a three from Avery Bierowski gave the Green Knights a 24-20 lead at the end of the first quarter.
After both teams traded the lead in the early minutes of the second quarter, St. Norbert went on a 13-0 run led by Macey Mercer (pictured). Mercer had eight of the points in the run, helping the Green Knights take a 43-29 lead with 2:41 left in the second quarter.
St. Norbert's shooting from three kept the Green Knights with a firm double-digit lead at the start of the third quarter, with Mercer hitting the Green Knights sixth three of the night at 7:03. The Green Knights defense was stellar in the quarter, allowing just four field goals.
The lead would grow to as many as 25 points in the final quarter for St. Norbert.
The Green Knights went 57.1 percent from three (8-for-14). Taylor Thiry recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Rose Hahn finished with 13 points, while Winslow added 12 from the bench. Mercer and Marnie Kahl each recorded 10 points.
The Muskies shot 47.1 percent from the floor (24-for-51). A.T. Bartlett led Lakeland with 16 points.
