DE PERE – St. Norbert College secured its place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association's Slaats Cup semifinals with a 7-2 win over Lawrence University, overcoming an early 2-0 deficit and scoring seven unanswered goals at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (22-4-1) won their fourth straight games over the Vikings to advance in the Slaats Cup playoffs, scoring three goals in the first and second periods.
After two early Lawrence goals at 2:55 and 5:53, the latter of which was on a Viking power play, Tristan Wicklund (pictured) scored off Courtnie Hogan and Natalie Hogan's assists to start the St. Norbert rally in the first period. Wicklund returned the favor to Natalie Hogan with a goal at 12:23 to tie the game at 2-2 before a Briar Charchenko game winner at 13:56 gave St. Norbert the 3-2 lead.
Grace Wittkopf added a fourth just after the first intermission at 1:09 in the second period off a Kelsey Ross assist. That goal was followed by a Courtnie Hogan goal at 7:51 and a Jo Mahlum goal at 9:53.
Lexi Bonfe scored the lone goal of the third period at 2:18, coming on a St. Norbert power play.
Wicklund finished with three points, scoring one goal and recording two assists. Natalie Hogan and Courtnie Hogan each finished with two points, scoring and assisting one goal each. Sydney Zurawick and Ross both recorded two assists.
St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 60-8. Keira Markell made six stops for the Green Knights. Sarah Dobrzynski made 39 saves for the Vikings, while Sydney Seeley made 14 stops in relief.
The Green Knights will face Lake Forest College in a Slaats Cup semifinal on Saturday, March 1 at 3 p.m at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
