DE PERE – St. Norbert College advanced to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup finals with a 3-1 win over Lake Forest College in a NCHA Slaats Cup semifinal at Resch Olympic Pavilion, scoring two goals in the third period to advance.
The Green Knights (23-4-1) moved one step closer to another championship thanks to two goals from Courtnie Hogan and one from Natalie Hogan.
Courtnie Hogan (pictured) opened the scoring at 12:35 in the first period, scoring on a St. Norbert power play off assists from Tristan Wicklund and Ava Anick. That goal was canceled out by a Foresters goal at 16:15 in the second period, tying the game at 1-1.
Hogan then scored her second goal to break the deadlock, scoring at 3:50 to take a 2-1 advantage. Natalie Hogan put the game to bed at 16:49 thanks to Wicklund's third assist of the afternoon.
Wicklund recorded three points in the win with her hat trick of assists, while the Hogan sisters each had two points.
St. Norbert outshot Lake Forest 27-23. Keira Markell made 22 stops for the Green Knights. Donna Fowler made 24 saves for Lake Forest.
St. Norbert went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Foresters went 0-for-3.
The Green Knights will face Adrian College on Saturday, March 7 at Resch Olympic Pavilion, with the winner claiming the NCHA's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
