Green Knights Set Program Record for Points, Extinguish Alverno

MILWAUKEE – St. Norbert College set a new program record for points in a game, snuffing out Alverno College 116-56 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Reiman Gymnasium.  

The Green Knights (19-4, 14-1 NACC) set the record off a free throw from Larissa Huffman with 1:08 left in the game, breaking the record of 112 points that stood for over a decade.  

St. Norbert held the Inferno to 28.6 percent from the floor through the first two quarters while making 27 field goals themselves in the first twenty minutes. The lead continued to grow for St. Norbert, getting over a 60-point lead by the end of the game.  

St. Norbert started the game on a 23-5 run behind nine points from Emma Morrisey in the opening 10 minutes. The Green Knights held Alverno to just eight points and two field goals in the first quarter. St. Norbert extended its lead to as many as 38 in the second quarter, taking a 60-28 lead to halftime.  

The whole cast was involved for St. Norbert in the win, as all 15 Green Knights found their way in the scorebook in the second half. St. Norbert led by more than 35 for most of the third quarter. 

The Green Knights scored 58 bench points in the win, scoring 22 in the fourth quarter.  

St. Norbert shot 62.8 percent from the floor (49-for-78). Morrisey led with 21 points, shooting 9-for-14 from the field. Taylor Thiry and Kalina Winslow (pictured) both had 12 points, while Macey Mercer had 10 points.  

Alverno shot 26.4 percent from the floor (14-for-53). Arlaysia Braggs led with 24 points.  

St. Norbert can clinch at least a share of the NACC Regular Season title on Saturday with a win over Milwaukee School of Engineering. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center.
