St. Norbert Sweeps Vikings to Conclude Regular Season

GRAND CHUTE – St. Norbert College concluded the regular season with a sweep over Lawrence University, winning 6-2 on the road in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Champion Center.  

The Green Knights (20-4-1, 16-1-1 NCHA), ranked No. 10 in the USCHO Division III poll, got off to a quick 2-0 start before the Vikings tied the game in the second period. St. Norbert would quickly respond with four unanswered goals to take the final game of the regular season.  

The Green Knights will meet the Vikings once again next week in the NCHA Slaats Cup quarterfinals next Friday and Saturday at Resch Olympic Pavilion.  

Kelsey Ross opened St. Norbert's account with two goals in the first period, scoring at 1:22 and 8:41. Grace Witkopf and Lexi Bonfe assisted Ross on both of her goals. The Vikings got back into the game at 18:58 in the first and would tie the game at 2:53 in the second period thanks to two goals from Sofia Alvarez.  

Natalie Hogan scored the winner just over two minutes later at 4:57, coming off an unassisted attempt. Tristan Wicklund scored a fourth at 11:08 in the second while Witkopf scored just two miniutes later to make it 5-2 in favor of the Green Knights at 13:30.  

Bonfe completed a four-point night with the lone goal in the third period, scoring at 6:59 from Jo Mahlum and Sydney Zurawik.  

Bonfe finished the night with one goal and three assists, while Ross and Hogan finished with two points each.  

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 38-11. Grendel Sprong made nine saves in her second start of the season. Sydney Seeley made 32 saves for the Vikings.  

St. Norbert went 0-for-3 on the power play while Lawrence was 0-for-2.
