APPLETON – St. Norbert College overcame a Lawrence University comeback attempt in the Green Knights' final road game of the regular season, scoring three goals in the third period to break a 2-2 deadlock to win 5-2 in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Appleton Ice Center.
The Green Knights (19-5, 14-3 NCHA), ranked No. 6 in the USCHO.com Division III poll, scored twice in the first period before the Vikings scored two of their own to tie the game in the second period. A big third saw the difference for the Green Knights.
Carter Hottmann (pictured) and Logan Dombrowsky each scored in the first several minutes, with Hottman netting his goal just 1:11 into the game while Dombrowsky scored on a power play less than two minutes later at 2:46 to give St. Norbert a early 2-0 lead.
The Vikings scored both of their goals on the power play, scoring at 16:40 in the first period and tying the game at 2-2 at 2:21 in the second period. St. Norbert regained its lead thanks to another goal from Hottmann, with Liam Fraser recording the assist at 4:26 in the third period.
Byron Hartley joined in on the fun at 16:49 to make it 4-2 in favor of the Green Knights, while Braden Lindstrom's goal at 18:08 all but assured a St. Norbert win.
Hottmann, Dombrowsky and Fraser had a multi-point game for the Green Knights. Fraser finished the game with three points, all of which were assists, to move into third place on St. Norbert's career scoring list with 158 points. Hottman finished with two goals for one point, while Dombrowsky had one goal and one assist.
Brock Baker, T.J. Koufis, Blake Ulve and Jack Hillman each had one assist.
St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 47-20. Hunter Garvey made 18 saves for St. Norbert. Nolan Mahaffey had 42 stops for Lawrence.
St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Lawrence was 2-for-5.
