DE PERE - St. Norbert College finished off its first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series of the season with a sweep of the University of Dubuque, claiming a 6-3 win at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (3-1, 2-0 NCHA), ranked No. 6 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, jumped ahead early when
Ali Sanders registered her first collegiate goal when she scored just 4:15 into the game. Dubuque would knot things up when Natalie Meeder scored a shorthanded goal at 11:37, but the Green Knights would get the goal back on the same power play when
Maleiyah Streck scored at 12:55. Allison Jacobson then put the Green Knights ahead 3-1 with a goal at 16:10.
St. Norbert pushed out to a 4-1 lead on
Briar Charchenko's goal at 6:39 of the second period. The Spartans would get the next two goals to get back to within 4-3 with Madilynn Schiile scoring at 9:38 and Meeder at 15:33. The Green Knights would wrest control back with 2 minutes left in the period when
Abby Pieper tucked the puck just under the crossbar for a 5-3 lead.
The Green Knights would get their lone goal of the third period when
Annalee Holzer (pictured) scored at 19:57.
Holzer and Pieper had one goal and one assist for two points, while
Taylor Lesnar and
Sydney Zurawik each had two assists for two points.
St. Norbert outshot Dubuque 43-19.
Tanith Plachetka had 16 saves for the Green Knights, while Emily Skanron had 37 stops for the Spartans.
The Green Knights were 1-for-3 on the power play, while Dubuque was 0-for-4.
