STEVENS POINT – St. Norbert College recovered from an early 2-0 disadvantage against UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at K.B. Willett Arena, scoring four unanswered in a 4-2 win for the Green Knights.
The Green Knights (4-1), ranked No. 4 in the USCHO.com Division III poll, fell prone to an early goal from the Pointers in the first period at 4:32. Stevens Point added a second goal with less than five seconds left on a power play to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Dayton Deics got St. Norbert back on track at 1:16 in the second period after converting off assists from Curtis Hammond (pictured) and T.J. Koufis. Byron Hartley leveled the game at 2-2 later in the period at 12:44 off a Gustav Portillo assist.
Hammond scored St. Norbert's third straight goal in the third period at 1:05 as the Green Knights took their first lead of the night. Braydon Beahm added one more goal in the twilight minutes of the game, scoring on an empty net at 18:49 for his fifth consecutive game with a goal to open his freshman year.
Hammond and Koufis each had two points in the win, while Portillo, Jackson Rilei, Logan Dombrowsky and Bryan Gilman all had one assist for one point.
St. Norbert outshot Stevens Point 28-20. Hunter Garvey made 18 saves for the Green Knights. Alex Proctor made 24 stops for Stevens Point.
Chris Englebert and Quinton Hill scored the two goals for the Pointers in the first period.
St. Norbert went 0-for-2 on the power play, while Stevens Point was 1-for-4.
