DE PERE – St. Norbert College completed its exhibition weekend with a second win in as many days, downing UW-Stevens Point 4-2 in the final warmup before the season begins next weekend at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights never trailed against the Pointers, getting their first goal just 5:41 into the first period with a Tristan Wicklund strike off assists from Annalee Holzer and Hannah Grabianowski. Grace Wittkopf made it 2-0 at 13:38 in the same period from an Emma Stebbeds helper.
The Pointers scored their first goal in the second period from Abby Skelly at 8:32, but a Holzer goal just before the end of the period at 18:49 gave St. Norbert the two-goal cushion once again. Holzer got her third point of the day in the third period, assisting Jo Mahlum at 17:12 to make it 4-1. Stevens Point added one more goal at 18:38 on an unassisted attempt from Dani Weiland.
The Green Knights outshot the Pointers 43-12. Grendel Sprong made four saves in the first period, while Tanith Plachetka made two and Keira Markell made four in relief.
St. Norbert went 0-for-2 on the power play, while the Pointers had no power play opportunities.
