GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A cold stretch at the end of the first half ultimately led to defeat for St. Norbert College, which dropped a 68-52 decision to Calvin University in a non-conference game at Van Noord Arena.
St. Norbert (9-3) trailed 11-4 nine minutes into the game and later had a 14-6 deficit with 9:36 left in the first half. The Green Knights then went on a 13-2 run, keyed by 3-pointers by
Brandt Wilson,
Connor Pytleski and
Cole Uhlenbrauck, the last putting the visitor ahead 19-16 with 6:08 left. Calvin then went on a 19-1 run the last 4:17 of the half to take a 33-20 lead at intermission.
Calvin would maintain a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
St. Norbert shot 32.2 percent (19-for-59) from the floor. Wilson led the Green Knights with 13 points, while Pytleski added 11 points and five rebounds.
Calvin shot 45.8 percent (22-for-48) from the floor. Owen Varnado had a game-high 17 points for the Knights.
