FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College pumped in 35 points in the second quarter to surge past Marian University in an 85-47 win in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Sadoff Gymnasium.
The Green Knights (14-3, 9-0 NACC) led 15-6 before outscoring the Sabres 35-9 in the second quarter. St. Norbert converted 14 of 19 field-goal attempts and made 5 of 8 three-point field-goal attempts in the second quarter.
St. Norbert never trailed as it took a 5-0 lead to open the game. The Green Knights led 7-4 before an 8-0 run, all from the hand of
Emma Morrisey (pictured), for a 15-4 edge. Marian got the last basket of the first period, but after that it was all St. Norbert. The Green Knights opened the second quarter with a 7-0 run on a hoop and 3-pointer from
Avery Bierowski and a hoop by
Casey Jepson for a 22-6 lead with 8:20 left. Marian cut it to 22-10 before a 10-0 St. Norbert run, capped by 3-pointers by Bierowski and
Olivia Conway, for a 32-10 lead midway through the quarter. Following a Marian trey, St. Norbert went on 16-0 run to take a 48-13 lead with just under a minute left.
The Green Knights' lead never dropped below 20 points in the second half.
St. Norbert was 32-for-65 (49.2 percent) from the floor and made 12 of 29 (41.4 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Morrisey finished with 20 points, while Conway added 17 points off the bench. Jepson had 11 points, while Bierowski and
Taylor Thiry had 10 points apiece. The Green Knights held a commanding 52-23 rebounding advantage.
Marian connected on 17 of 59 (28.8 percent) from the field. Lexi Brakebush led the Sabres with 13 points.
