DE PERE - St. Norbert College couldn't overcome a disastrous start to the third period in a 4-2 loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights held a 2-0 lead after two periods, but the Raiders scored three goals in the first 2:54 of the third period to take control.
St. Norbert and MSOE almost skated to a scoreless first period, but
Logan Dombrowsky beat the buzzer with a power-play goal at 19:59 for a 1-0 lead. Dombrowsky added a shorthanded goal - his 12th overall on the season - at 14:05 of the second period to double the Green Knights lead.
MSOE got a goal from Sam Lyons just 1:04 into the third period. The Raiders kept momentum with goals by Steve Guo at 2:31 and Eddie Shepler at 2:54. Lyons added a breakaway goal at 15:19 for the game's final score. The Green Knights had 3:29 of extra-attacker time at the end of the game but did not inch closer.
St. Norbert outshot MSOE 30-26. Vaughn Maker made 18 saves in the game's first 42:54, while
Hunter Garvey made four saves in 13:37 in relief. Austin Schwab made 28 saves for the Raiders.
St. Norbert was 1-for-2 on the power play, while MSOE was 0-for-3.
