MINNEAPOLIS - St. Norbert College finished its weekend in the Gopher State with a 4-2 setback at Augsburg University in a non-conference game at Ed Saugestad Rink.
The Green Knights (12-3) yielded a pair of goals early in the third period to the No. 8-ranked Auggies (9-2-1) for the difference.
St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead late in the first period when
Briar Charchenko (pictured) registered her second goal of the season with a score at 17:22. That goal would hold up until Augsburg scored at 5:20 of the second period when Nora Stepan tied the score. The Auggies pulled ahead with a power-play goal by Aunna Schulte at 17:31 of the frame for a 2-1 lead into second intermission.
The Green Knights were able to knot the score at 2-2 when
Lexi Bonfe scored her fourth goal of the season when she puffed the net 24 seconds into the third period. Augsburg responded on the next shift when Ruby Eskin scored just 22 seconds later. The Auggies picked up a big insurance goal when Ella Olson scored on the power play at 5:36.
St. Norbert had 2 minutes 43 seconds of extra-attacker time but did not draw closer.
The Green Knights outshot Augsburg 24-23.
Ashley Ommen made 19 saves for St. Norbert, while Kayla Simonson stopped 22 shots for the Auggies.
St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Augsburg was 2-for-6.
