Green Knights Force Stalemate With Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College battled back to force a 1-1 tie with Dominican University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at West Campus Field.

The Green Knights and Stars battled without a score until late in the first half. Dominican posted the match's first marker at the 40:57 mark when Zach Gamster scored. The Stars carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Dominican had a chance to double its lead in the 57th minute on a penalty-kick opportunity, but St. Norbert goalkeeper Ryan Fleming came up with the save to maintain the one-goal margin. The Green Knights responded moments later when Joe Lewcock finished at 60:36 off an Everett Saeger assist for his third goal of the season.

St. Norbert outshot Dominican 11-10, with the host holding a slim 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Fleming started and made three saves, while Nate Jocz finished up and made two stops for the Green Knights to preserve the tie. Shane Marinkovich made three saves for Dominican.
