Green Knights Clipped by Sabres

FOND DU LAC – St. Norbert College fell to Marian University 3-1 on Wednesday, conceding twice in the first half before being able to come up with a response in the second half.

The Green Knights started the game in a strong way, getting eight shots in the first 20 minutes. Haley Leadingham, Mackenzie Schneider and Emilie Harwood forced three saves out of Sabres keeper Chelsea King in just a four-minute span.

After a collision in the box, Marian took the lead off a chipped shot at 22:31 to go up 1-0. The Sabres would then go up by two about ten minutes after the first, scoring an Olimpico from the left corner.

Abby Moore would get close to scoring early in the second half, but her attempt hit off the bottom crossbar.

St. Norbert would get a lifeline with Abby Thompson's second goal of the season, coming off a Leadingham assist in the box.

The Sabres would get one more several minutes after Thompson's goal to down St. Norbert for good.

Both teams reached double digits in shots, with St. Norbert having 25 and Marian having 17. Lilly Collins made four saves in the game, while Thompson had the most shots on goal with three.
