DE PERE – St. Norbert College women's soccer grabbed a big win over Lakeland University to open conference play, as the Green Knights thrashed the Muskies 4-0 for the first home win of the season.
St. Norbert had 24 shots in the game, with 14 of them hitting on target. 15 of those shots came in the second half, where the Green Knights were able to score three goals.
The Green Knights were on the front nearly the entire game, as they troubled Lakeland early and often. Abby Thompson had a chance at 19:38 that dinged off the top woodwork.
Aleah Reesman had several good opportunities on goal, forcing Muskies keeper Ingrid Steinbock to make a pair of saves. She wasn't able to stop Reesman's third opportunity in the half however, and at 42:02 Reesman let fly a shot nearly twenty yards out to score St. Norbert's first of the game.
Reesman would not be done as she would provide an assist to Haley Leadingham just a few minutes after the beginning of the second half to put St. Norbert up by two.
After another Thompson shot hit the crossbar, Reesman would score a brace at 69:20, with Meredith Posanski coming up with the assist.
Posanski would find herself finding the back of the net as well, scoring the Green Knights fourth goal of the evening. Thompson would provide the assist for her third point of the season.
Lilly Collins had a quiet night in goal but would come up big with a save in the second half to keep a clean sheet for her first win of the season.
