Green Knights Edged by Late UW-Oshkosh Goal

OSHKOSH – St. Norbert College was narrowly defeated by UW-Oshkosh, conceding a goal late into the second half that proved to be the difference maker in a 1-0 decision in a non-conference match at Titan Stadium.

The Green Knights had five shots in the opening ten minutes, including two from Abby Thompson. Thompson's first shot hit off the lower crossbar, but managing to continue the attack off the rebound, she found another shot, with her second being saved by the Titans goalkeeper on the opposite side.

The Titans would get an attempt on target following the blistering Green Knights attack, as Taylor Wilson saved an early shot in her first start of the season.

Thompson would have a late shot on target just before the half, as would Oakley Witteck, who had a chance just six seconds before the whistle.

Aleah Reesman and Abby Moore kept the Green Knights attack going in the second half, but the Green Knights would surprisingly be the ones first to concede, as Shannon Walsh put the Titans up 1-0 at 69:27.

Reesman would give St. Norbert several more opportunities after going down, but it wouldn't be enough as Oshkosh would hang on for a slim victory.

St. Norbert outshot Oshkosh 18-9, with nine shots coming from the Green Knights in each half. St. Norbert also had more corner kicks than the Titans 4-3. The Green Knights had all four corners in the first half.

Wilson made three saves in her first start, including two saves in the second half.
