Two Second-Half Goals Earn St. Norbert a Tough Draw

DE PERE - St. Norbert was held to a 2-2 stalemate with University of Dubuque in the penultimate non-conference game of the season for the Green Knights, with both teams scoring their goals in the second half just minutes apart.

The Green Knights had eight opportunities in the first half to take the lead, while the visiting Spartans had none.

Matthew Wright almost scored the opener at 35:05 but was denied by the top woodwork off a corner kick.

The Green Knights had six corner kicks in the first half but could not convert their many opportunities.

The attacking persistence paid off, as Kevin Ramirez scored his first goal of the season off a Payton Schilz cross into the box. It was the Green Knights eighth shot of the game, and the opportunities would continue to come for St. Norbert.

Just under a minute later, Joe Lewcock scored St. Norbert's second goal of the game at 68:21. The assist came from Joe Meade, who provided his third assist of the season.

It looked like the Green Knights were on their way to their first win of the season, but with twenty minutes still to play, there was time for more twists and turns.

The Spartans finally hit their first shot on target at 86:07, with substitute Josh Aboagye scoring after just moments after coming into the game. He would prove to be the deciding factor for the visitors, as he also would score the equalizing goal not even a minute later at 87:42.

The Green Knights were unable to produce any more attacking moments, as the game would come to a close with the 2-2 scoreline.

St. Norbert had three times as many chances as the Spartans, but with the Green Knights being unable to convert their chances in the opening half, the result ended in a hard fought draw between the sides.
