ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Norbert College wrapped up its three matches in the St. Catherine University/Hamline University Tournament by going 2-1 on the weekend following a 3-1 win over Hamline at historic Hutton Arena.
The Green Knights rebounded from an opening-set loss to claim victory by a score of 14-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-20.
St. Norbert never trailed in the second set to even the match at 1-1. The Green Knights led 22-21 late in Set 3 before a pair of Hamline attack errors and an
Alyssa Mills kill led to a 2-1 lead. St. Norbert then held a 23-20 lead late in Set 4 before a
Maleigha Kovalaske kill and a block from
Alli Clark wrapped up the victory.
The Green Knights hit .102 for the match, posting 42 kills with 27 errors in 147 attempts. Mills, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, finished with 15 kills. Kovalaske added nine kills and Clark eight kills.
Heidi Colburn finished with 36 assists. Colburn and
Andrianna Volz had two service aces apiece.
Mills finished with a team-high 13 digs, while Colburn and
Kara Sowinski had 12 apiece. Volz also turned in seven with several key defensive plays in the final two sets. Clark totaled five blocks, while
Anna Kudick had three blocks and
Mari Szews two.
Hamline finished with an .059 hitting percentage, getting 34 kills against 26 errors in 135 swings. Riley Melby had 14 kills to lead the Pipers.
