St. Norbert Splits at MSOE

GLENDALE - St. Norbert College returned to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action and split a doubleheader with Milwaukee School of Engineering at MSOE Raiders Stadium.

The Green Knights (10-11, 3-3 NACC) won the opener 9-8 before dropping the nightcap 13-3.

Playing as the home team after the twinbill was moved to MSOE due to wet grounds in De Pere, the Raiders got three runs in the top of the second inning in the opener to take a 3-0 lead. The Green Knights responded with two in the bottom of the inning on A.J. Kisting's RBI single and a Carson Krumrei sacrifice fly to get to within 3-2.

The Raiders scored two runs in the fourth but St. Norbert again scored twice in the bottom half on a Jaden Holgado RBI single and a Trevor Reinhardt sacrifice fly. MSOE scored a run in the fifth before St. Norbert scored three times in its half. Kisting and Matt Schuch had RBI singles while Devin Geary added a sacrifice fly for a 7-6 lead. The Green Knights added to runs in the sixth inning on a Levi Crosswell run-scoring groundout and Matt Perry scored on a passed ball. The insurance runs proved valuable as MSOE scored twice in the seventh and had the tying run on third base but St. Norbert closed out the win.

Geary, Crosswell and Kisting all went 2-for-3, with Crosswell scoring two runs and Kisting driving in a pair. Will DeBruin was 1-for-1 with two runs scored and was hit by a pitch three times. Zach Bostrand picked up the win with two innings of relief, while Marty Walsh worked the seventh to earn his fifth save of the year.

In the nightcap, MSOE jumped out to a 13-0 lead with three runs in the second inning, two runs in the fifth and a big eight-run uprising in the sixth. The Green Knights scored three runs in the seventh inning. Krumrei had and RBI single, while Huck Sprong scored on a wild pitch. Holgado then had an RBI grounder to plate Krumrei.

Trevor Reinhardt was 3-for-4 and Krumrei was 2-for-3. Matt Perry took the loss, allowing seven runs in five-plus innings pitched.
