Green Knights Dropped By Concordia Wisconsin

DE PERE - St. Norbert College faced Concordia University Wisconsin in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, dropping both games by scores of 5-3 and 7-2 at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights fell behind 3-0 in the opener when the Falcons put up two runs in the first inning and one more in the top of the third inning. St. Norbert responded with a pair of runs in the third inning, scoring when Ava Engwall's single brought around Lilly Haase and Allison Ardito. The Green Knights had the bases loaded and one out but did not score again in the inning.

St. Norbert tied the game in the fifth inning when Karleigh Linssen's double to the left-center field gap brought around pinch-runner Hallei Mleziva, who just beat the tag to tie it at 3-3. Concordia would score two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-3 lead and held on from there.

Engwall and Zoe Zasada were both 2-for-4 for the Green Knights. Addison Race took the complete-game loss, allowing seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Concordia again scored two runs in the top of the first and one more in the third for a 3-0 lead. The Falcons broke the game open with a three-run fifth inning. St. Norbert got two runs in its half of the fifth on RBI singles by Nicole Condon and Engwall. Concordia got a run back in the top of the seventh to close out the scoring.

Linssen was 2-for-3 for the Green Knights, who had six hits.
