BELOIT - St. Norbert College didn't get much going offensively and was swept in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader 11-1 and 5-4 by Rockford University at Pohlman Field.
The Green Knights had just one hit in the opener - a
Matt Perry fifth-inning single. Rockford scored three times in the second inning, five times in the fifth and three times in the sixth. St. Norbert scored its run in the sixth inning when
Trevor Reinhardt's sacrifice fly brought home
Tyler Pigeon, who opened the inning with a walk.
Jace Midbon took the loss for the Green Knights.
In the nightcap, St. Norbert held a 4-3 lead going to the bottom of the eighth inning but the Regents scored one run in the eighth and one in the ninth to rally for the win.
Rockford took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but St. Norbert tied it in the third inning when
Devin Geary's single brought home
Jayden Wendt. The Regents got a run in the fifth inning and St. Norbert tied it at 2-2 in the seventh on Wendt's single to score
Levi Crosswell. Rockford pulled ahead 3-2 in its half of the seventh. St. Norbert scored twice in the top of the eighth inning on
Zach Bostrand's two-run single to plate
Jaden Holgado and Reinhardt for a 4-3 lead.
Levi Crosswell was 2-for-3 for the Green Knights, who had five hits.
Marty Walsh took the loss in relief.
Luke Steebs went seven innings, allowing eight hits and three runs in the no-decision.
