MILWAUKEE - St. Norbert College faced Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match, falling 3-1 at Kern Center.
The Raiders topped the Green Knights 25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19.
MSOE jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and never looked back in Set 1 to take an early lead. St. Norbert went on a 4-0 run in Set 2 to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 12-10 lead fueled by
Bennett Kornaus and
Jackson Corcoran kills, but the Raiders countered with a 5-0 run to get momentum. The Green Knights would get to within 20-18 but would get no closer as the host took a 2-0 lead.
MSOE led 15-11 in Set 3 before the Green Knights went on a 6-0 run, which included kills by
Logan Crowther and Corcoran and a pair of
Boston Peck service aces for a 16-15 edge. A block by Crowther and Corcoran gave St. Norbert a 23-20 lead, and another block by Crowther and
Kaden Kornaus cashed in set point. St. Norbert hung around in Set 4 and got to within 17-16, but a 5-0 run by the Raiders led to MSOE closing out the win.
St. Norbert hit .050 for the match, with 33 kills and 27 errors in 119 attempts.
Kaden Kornaus had nine kills, while Crowther added seven. Jacob Van Ooyen added six kills.
Michael Whitney had 24 assists, while Peck had two service aces.
Ryan Conway finished with nine digs, while
Zach Hanse had six. Crowther finished with eight blocks, one shy of the St. Norbert single-match record. Van Ooyen added three blocks.
MSOE hit .231, with 48 kills against 20 errors in 121 attempts. David Pineda led the Raiders with 11 kills.
