DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a 9-0 win over Edgewood College at Green Bay Tennis Center.
The Green Knights (6-8, 1-0 NACC) swept the doubles action by surrendering just two games in the three matches.
Brett Daniels and
Jackson Harpt blanked Andrew Hoffmann and Jon Olafsson 8-0 at No. 1.
Brian Coulter and
Joe Pellechia stopped Alton Robinson and Marek Woytasik 8-1 at No. 2, while
David Vandenberg and
Anthony Michels tripped Ethan Towne and William Faley 8-1 at No. 3.
St. Norbert got a shutout at No. 6 singles when
Josh Brown blanked Faley 6-0, 6-0. Vandenberg beat Robinson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, with Coulter beating Towne 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5.
Daniels claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win over Olafsson at No. 1, while Harpt defeated Hoffmann 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2. Pellechia outlasted Woytasik in a tiebreaker at No. 3, winning 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).
