LEESBURG, Fla. - St. Norbert College wrapped up its Florida trip with a split on its final day at the Rebel Games, topping the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg 6-1 before falling to Rutgers University Camden 8-0.
The Green Knights took control early against Pitt-Greensburg, with
Zoe Zasada pounding an RBI double to score
Nicole Condon and
Karleigh Linssen bringing Zasada home with a single and an outfield error for a pair of first-inning runs. St. Norbert added a run in the second inning after
Meredith Manke tripled and
Allison Ardito brought her home with an RBI groundout.
The Bobcats got a run in the top of the fifth inning, but St. Norbert salted the game away with three runs in its half of the frame. Linssen's single brought in Ardito, with Zasada also scoring on an outfield error on the play.
Morgan Jarvi then brought in Linssen with a sacrifice fly.
Zasada was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Linssen was 2-for-3 with a run scored and one RBI.
Addison Race picked up the complete-game win, allowing seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
Against Rutgers-Camden, St. Norbert was held to three hits in the five-inning game. Zasada had two hits.
Cassie Schultz took the loss, allowing eight hits and five runs in 3 2/3 innings pitched.
