AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College got a pair of home runs and rallied to an 8-5 win over SUNY Oneonta at Lake Myrtle Park, extending the Green Knights' winning streak to four.
The Green Knights (6-8) got a big three-run home run from
Trevor Reinhardt in the fifth inning and an insurance solo shot from
Carson Krumrei in the eighth inning to help secure the win.
Oneonta built a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and fourth innings. The Green Knights broke through when Reinhardt singled and
Matt Perry followed up with a double to the left-center gap. The Red Dragons would take a 3-1 run lead with another single run in the top of the fifth inning.
St. Norbert would pull ahead in the bottom of the fifth. Krumrei led off the inning with a single. After a fielder's choice and a strikeout,
Jaden Holgado walked to put two on with two out. Reinhardt then launched his third round-tripper of the season for a 4-3 lead. Oneonta would retake the lead with two runs in the sixth for a 5-4 lead. The Green Knights would tie the game when
Will DeBruin singled with two outs and advanced to second on a passed ball.
A.J. Kisting's single brought DeBruin home for a 5-5 tie.
The Green Knights took the lead for good in their half of the seventh.
Devin Geary walked to lead off the inning and was sacrificed to second. Reinhardt was intentionally walked to put two on. Following a strikeout, Geary and Reinhardt each advanced a base on a balk.
Levi Crosswell then hit a two-run single to center for a 7-5 lead. St. Norbert added an insurance run with Krumrei's solo shot with one out in the eighth.
Oneonta would load the bases with two out in the ninth but did not score.
Reinhardt was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Krumrei was 2-for-4 with a run scored and one run batted in. Crosswell had two RBI.
Jace Midbon earned the win, allowing eight hits and five runs with one walk and four strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
Marty Walsh worked the ninth inning for his second save of the year.
