KISSIMMEE, Fla. - St. Norbert College split with a pair of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents on its third day at the Rebel Games, dropping a tough 5-4 decision to College of St. Scholastica before rebounding to defeat Hamline University 8-0 at Fortune Road Park.
St. Norbert broke open a scoreless game against St. Scholastica with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, with
Hallei Mleziva scoring on an error. The Green Knights added three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, with
Andrianna Volz scoring on an error and
Zoe Zasada plating two more runs on a single for a 4-0 lead. St. Scholastica would then rally in the top of the seventh inning, scoring five runs after two outs - with a three-run home run by Samantha Paniagua the big blow.
Ava Engwall was 2-for-3 for the Green Knights, while Volz was 2-for-4 with a double.
Against Hamline, St. Norbert pounded out 10 hits to support
Addison Race's three-hit shutout in the five-inning game. Race walked just one and struck out four.
Morgan Jarvi had an RBI single and Zasada an RBI groundout to give St. Norbert a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
Karleigh Linssen added an RBI single in the third inning. The Green Knights broke the game open with a three-run fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth inning, keyed by
Lilly Haase's two-run double.
Jarvi was 3-for-3 to pace St. Norbert, while Zasada had two runs scored. Haase had three runs batted in, while Linssen had two while drawing a pair of walks.
