DE PERE - St. Norbert College solidified its post-season position with a 3-0 win over the University of Dubuque in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (17-6-1, 12-2-1 NCHA) clinched the No. 2 seeding for the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs. St. Norbert will host seventh-seeded Trine University in a NCHA quarterfinal series on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 16-17 at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
St. Norbert jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period.
Kelsey Ross scored her eighth goal of the season with a marker at 4:35. The Green Knights doubled their lead when
Morgan Olson registered a power-play marker at 13:37 of the period, good for her 10th goal of the year.
The Green Knights held their two-goal lead until
Claire Healy effectively decided the outcome 38 seconds into the third period with her fourth goal of the season.
Olson had an assist for a two-point game, while
Courtnie Hogan had two assists for two points.
St. Norbert outshot Dubuque 40-12.
Ashley Ommen posted her fourth shutout of the season with 12 saves. Savannah Wuitschick made 37 stops for the Spartans.
The Green Knights were 1-for-2 on the power play, while Dubuque was 0-for-3.
