St. Norbert Pulls Away From Dominican

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College used a big third quarter to pull away from Dominican University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Igini Sports Forum.

The Green Knights (13-9, 10-3 NACC) led 27-18 at halftime before outscoring the Stars 23-6 in the third quarter.

St. Norbert went on a 9-0 run after falling behind 3-0 to take a six-point lead. Emma Morrisey got the run started with a layup, while Rose Hahn followed with a basket, Kalina Winslow a 3-pointer and Marnie Kahl a layup. Dominican answered with a 9-2 run to take a 12-11 lead, but Oakley Witteck's layup closed out the first quarter scoring and a 13-12 Green Knights' lead.

The Green Knights opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run. Casey Jepson and Hahn had a pair of hoops, with Taylor Thiry following with a pair of free throws and a layup. Hahn's jumper gave St. Norbert a 23-12 lead with 6:23 left in the quarter. St. Norbert carried a 27-18 lead into halftime.

St. Norbert led 36-24 midway through the third quarter before going on a 14-0 run to close out the period. Jepson and Winslow hit consecutive 3-pointers, followed by a pair of Thiry baskets. Avery Bierowski and Winslow had baskets to give the Green Knights a 50-24 lead at the final quarter break.

St. Norbert led by as many as 33 points in the fourth quarter.

The Green Knights shot 45.5 percent (30-for-66) from the floor and held a 48-30 rebounding advantage. Winslow and Thiry each had 12 points, while Jepson added 11 points and seven assists.

Dominican shot 26.9 percent (14-for-52) from the floor. Kameron Goodman and Aya Deiri shared the scoring lead for the Stars with 11 points apiece.
