RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Making its second trip to the Chicago area in four days, St. Norbert College battled but eventually fell 3-0 to Dominican University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Igini Sports Forum.

The Green Knights (8-8, 1-3 NACC) dropped the match to the Stars (7-6, 2-0) by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-17.

The two teams opened the match with high-octane offense, with St. Norbert hitting .400 (11-1-25) but Dominican hitting a white-hot .559 (20-1-34). The Green Knights were able to hang with the Stars, tied early at 7-7 and trailing 15-12 before the host went on a 4-0 run for a seven-point lead. St. Norbert was able to get back to within five at 24-19 before Dominican closed out a 1-0 lead.

Dominican held a 9-6 lead in Set 2 before going on a 10-3 run to take a 19-9 lead. The Green Knights shaved three points off their deficit to 23-16 but could get no closer. Dominican jumped out to leads of 9-0 and 18-8 in the third set, but St. Norbert came again with a late push. A 6-2 run by the Green Knights, including kills from Michael Whitney, Kaden Kornaus and Mason Werner, forced Dominican to ask for time at 20-14. St. Norbert cut its deficit to five twice late, but the Stars finished off the sweep.

St. Norbert hit .171 with 29 kills and 15 errors in 82 attempts. Kornaus totaled 12 kills against four errors in 26 attempts. Werner and Logan Crowther had four kills apiece. Whitney had 19 assists.

Ryan Conway led the defense with seven digs. Werner and Crowther had two blocks apiece.

Dominican hit a lusty .427, with 42 kills and seven errors in 82 attempts. Casey Goss paced the Stars with 12 kills.
