DE PERE - St. Norbert College put the wrap on a sweep of its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Playoffs quarterfinal series with Marian University with a 5-0 win at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (20-6), now winners of 10 of their last 11 games, will host Trine University at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in a semifinal contest at Cornerstone Community Center. St. Norbert's win over Marian was its 46th consecutive win in the NCHA Quarterfinals, dating back to the 1995-96 season.
St. Norbert scored the only goal of a defensively oriented first period when
Adam Stacho scored a power-play goal at the 7:50 mark.
The Green Knights would hold their one-goal lead until
Logan Dombrowsky finished a rebound just over halfway through the game at 10:04 of the second period.
Braden Lindstrom would put St. Norbert ahead 3-0 at 13:53 of the second period.
St. Norbert scored a pair of third-period goals to pull away.
Curtis Hammond registered a power-play goal at 4:02, while Stacho scored again with a marker at 9:08. Stacho now has a team-high 18 goals on the season.
Liam Fraser finished with three assists for three points, and finished with five assists for five points in the series to give him a team-high 41 points. Stacho's two goals put him at 40 points on the year. Dombrowsky had one goal and one assists for two points to push his season total to 34 points.
Brock Baker added two points for two assists.
St. Norbert outshot Marian 34-13, including 29-7 over the final two periods.
Hunter Garvey made 13 saves to post the shutout for the Green Knights, while Andrei Proctor-Ramirez made 29 saves for the Sabres.
St. Norbert was 2-for-8 on the power play, while Marian was 0-for-1.
