ANGOLA, Ind. - St. Norbert College continued its solid defensive play and then pulled away offensively en route to a 5-0 win over Trine University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Thunder Ice Arena.
The Green Knights (10-2, 8-0 NCHA) outshot Trine 50-12 but found themselves leading 1-0 at second intermission before scoring four third-period goals.
Following a scoreless first period, St. Norbert broke through at 9:11 of the second period with a power-play goal by Courtine Hogan.
St. Norbert's 1-0 lead would hold up until
Jo Mahlum scored at 6:30 of the third period doubled the lead.
Kelsey Ross (pictured) scored shorthanded at 9:02 for a 3-0 edge.
Sydney Zurawik scored at 13:02 and
Allison Jacobsen followed at 14:31 to close out the scoring.
Ross added two assists to finish with a three-point game.
Lexi Bonfe had two assists for the only other multi-point game for the Green Knights.
Keira Markell made 12 saves to get the shutout between the pipes for the Green Knights. Annie Kindseth, who made 60 saves in Friday's series opener, made 45 stops for the Thunder.
St. Norbert was 1-for-2 on the power play, while Trine was 0-for-3.
