Third Period Lifts St. Norbert Past Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa - St. Norbert College scored a pair of third-period goals en route to a 3-1 win over the University of Dubuque in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at ImOn Arena.

The Green Knights (3-0, 1-0 NCHA) were locked in a 1-1 tie through two periods before breaking throw on the first shift of the final stanza. Lisa LaRoche scored her third goal of the young season just 14 seconds into the period to break the stalemate, finishing off assists from Emma Stebbeds and Kelsey Ross. St. Norbert added an insurance goal at 7:43 of the period when Sydnez Zurawik (pictured) scored her second goal of the season. LaRoche and Maddie Madden recorded assists.

St. Norbert took an early 1-0 lead when Courtnie Hogan scored a power-play goal at 2:52 of the first period. Claire Healy and Maddux Federici posted assists. Dubuque tied the game at 9:30 of the first period on an unassisted goal by Aleah Giddings.

The 1-1 score would hold up through a scoreless second period despite the Green Knights holding a 13-4 shots advantage.

LaRoche finished with the Green Knights' lone multi-point game with one goal and one assist.

St. Norbert outshot Dubuque 40-13. Ashley Ommen made 12 saves for the Green Knights, while Savannah Wuitschick made 37 stops for the Spartans.

St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Dubuque was 0-for-2.
