St. Norbert Opens Season With Dominant Victory

DE PERE – St. Norbert College opened the season with a thunderous 3-0 shutout win over College of St. Scholastica at the Resch Olympic Pavilion.  

The Green Knights scored two goals in the second period following a scoreless opening to the game and would add one more in the third to salt the game away.  

Following the opening period where St. Norbert had 16 shots on goal, the Green Knights would get on the board from a Tristan Wicklund goal at the 9:18 mark in the second period, coming off assists from Courtnie Hogan and Natalie Hogan.  

Abby Pieper would add a second goal in the period, with her rocket finding the back of the net at 17:29. Lexi Bonfe and Maleiyah Streck provided the assists.  

Lisa LaRoche scored an insurance goal at 5:00 in the third period, with Bonfe getting her second assist of the night and Kelsey Ross getting her first point of the season.  

The Green Knights outshot the Saints 50-14, with 27 of St. Norbert's shots coming in the second period. Neither team was successful on the power play, with St. Norbert going 0-for-2 and St. Scholastica going 0-for-1.  

Ashley Ommen made 14 saves for St. Norbert, while Saints' goaltender Makenzie Cole was forced to make 47 saves from the Green Knights onslaught.
