ROCKFORD, ILL. - St. Norbert College claimed its second straight shutout victory in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, defeating Rockford 1-0 behind a goal from Abby Thompson in the second half.
The Green Knights had seven first half shots, with Meredith Posanski's shot into the bottom left corner coming the closest to breaking the deadlock.
Thompson and Aleah Reesman forced Regents keeper Kaleigh Taylor to make multiple saves to open the second half. Oakley Witteck then would come agonizingly close in the 70th minute when her attempt hit the top woodwork, but less than a minute later, Maddie Dudan would score at 71:13 to give St. Norbert a well-deserved lead off a Danielle Dewar assist. The goal was Dudan's first of the season, while Dewar assisted a goal for a second straight game.
Taylor Wilson was asked to make a save just several seconds after the ensuing kickoff, but it would be the best chance Rockford would have for the remainder of the game, as the defense stood tall to earn the shutout.
St. Norbert outshot the Regents 27-3 and held the advantage in corners, 4-2.
Wilson's late save was the only one she would have to make for the Green Knights, while Rockford's Taylor made five saves.
