FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College extended its winning streak to six games with an 88-43 win over Marian University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Sadoff Gymnasium.
The Green Knights (12-9, 9-3 NACC) sprinted out to a 53-23 halftime lead and cruised to the win.
St. Norbert never trailed and the game was tied only twice - the latter at 5-5. The Green Knights then went on an 11-2 run to take control. Emma Morrissey hit a pair of 3-pointers and
Rose Hahn followed with another to make it 14-5. Following a Marian hoop, Morrissey scored again for a 16-7 lead with 4:24 left in the first quarter.
Macey Mercer then had a 3 and a basket and
Marnie Kahl followed with a bucket as the Green Knights led 25-14 after the first quarter.
The Green Knights then opened the second quarter on a 17-2 run.
Kalina Winslow's jumper and a
Casey Jepson 3-pointer opened the period, while Morrisey's 3-pointer put St. Norbert ahead 36-16 with 6:15 left in the period. A basket by Hahn and a pair of hoops by
Taylor Thiry pushed the lead to 42-16 with 3:43 left. Kahl's conventional three-point play just before halftime gave St. Norbert a 53-23 edge.
St. Norbert's lead never dipped below 29 points in the third quarter and the Green Knights connected on five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to account for the final margin.
The Green Knights shot 47.2 percent (34-for-72) from the floor and was 14-for-34 (41.2 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. The 14 treys were just two off the school record of 16 set against Marian last season. Mercer, Morrisey and Thiry all had 14 points, while Jepson added 10 points.
Marian shot 34 percent (17-for-50) from the floor. Kiara Williams led the Sabres with 10 points.
