MILWAUKEE - St. Norbert College improved to 7-0 in January with a solid 84-61 road win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Kern Center.
The Green Knights (16-3, 11-1 NACC) never trailed and saw a 5-4 lead go to 13-4 with an 8-0 run in the early going.
Evan Glaser's jumper in the paint and 3-pointers from
Jamison Nickolai and
Carter Gebler pushed St. Norbert ahead by nine just shy of five minutes into the game. The Green Knights then saw a 15-9 lead rupture into a 29-8 advantage with 11:44 left in the first half. A Gebler 3-pointer put St. Norbert up 20-9, while a conventional three-point play by
Kyle Krueger, a trey by
Aidan Harrington and a layup by Glaser capped off the spurt.
St. Norbert maintained its lead in the teens the rest of the first half, with Gebler's hoop late in the period giving the Green Knights a 45-29 halftime lead.
MSOE scored the first six points of the second half to cut the deficit to 45-35 and also got lead back to 10 on two other occasions, but never got it to within single digits. Nickolai and Gebler had a pair of baskets for a 54-40 lead with 14:19 left. Three
Garrett Grzesk free throws put St. Norbert ahead 71-50 with 5:48 left, while Gebler added a conventional three-point play and a Harrington 3-pointer gave the Green Knights a 79-54 lead with 3:02 to go.
St. Norbert shot 54.4 percent (31-for-57) from the floor, 50 percent (10-for-20) from beyond the three-point arc and 92.3 percent (12-for-13) from the free-throw line. The Green Knights also held a 33-22 rebounding advantage. Gebler wheeled a career-high 25 points. Harrington added 11 points, while Glaser and Grzesk had 10 points apiece. Nickolai had 10 rebounds with seven points.
MSOE shot 41.2 percent (21-for-51) from the floor. Mason Dopirak had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Raiders.
