RIVER FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference schedule with a 3-2 loss to Dominican University at Igini Sports Forum.
The Green Knights dropped the match 25-21, 18-25, 15-25, 25-18, 15-13. The match featured 33 ties and 10 lead changes.
In the decisive fifth set, St. Norbert led 6-2 and 9-6 before the Stars rallied with a 7-1 run to take a 13-10 lead. The Green Knights got back to a 13-13 tie but Dominican scored the last two points to win the match.
In Set 1, St. Norbert and Dominican were tied 20-20 before the Stars closed out the win with a 5-1 run. The Green Knights took Set 2 by going on a 9-0 run after trailing 16-15 to pull away. St. Norbert jumped out to a 10-3 lead in Set 3 and was never challenged in the stanza to take a 2-1 lead. The fourth set was tied 11-11 before Dominican went on a quick 4-0 run to take a lead it would never relinquish.
St. Norbert hit .221 with 50 kills and 17 errors in 149 attempts.
Rylie Gregg had 19 kills, while
Brooke Clement added 16.
Heidi Colburn had 38 assists and five service aces. Gregg and Clement added two service aces each.
Erin Eggers had 25 digs, Clement 14 digs and
Lauren Borchardt 10 digs.
Linnea Svennes had four blocks, while Clement totaled three.
Dominican hit .190, with 54 kills and 23 errors in 163 attempts. Cassidy Spies had a match-high 27 kills for the Stars.
