GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - St. Norbert College threw a scare into nationally ranked Calvin University before dropping a 4-2 decision in a non-conference match in front of 1,117 fans at Zuidema Field.
The Green Knights led 2-1 at halftime and were tied 2-2 with 25 minutes left before a red card left them shorthanded the rest of the way. Calvin scored in the 83rd minute to take the lead and then scored with 27 seconds left for the two-goal margin.
Joe Meade gave St. Norbert a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick at 19:05. Calvin's Chris Schau scored at 27:41 to knot the match at 1-1, but
Stjepan Peharda scored at 31:40 for a 2-1 edge the Green Knights would take into halftime.
Oliver Akintade scored at 57:46 for Calvin, which got the decisive goals at 82:03 from Alex White and at 89:33 from Schau.
Calvin outshot St. Norbert 18-11 after it was 7-7 at halftime.
Nate Jocz made five saves for the Green Knights.
