Green Knights Get Swept at Edgewood

VERONA - St. Norbert College continued Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a doubleheader at Edgewood College, losing twice to the Eagles 3-1 and 12-6 at Ceniti Park.

The Green Knights fell behind in the opener when the Eagles scored three times in the bottom of the first inning. The 3-0 deficit held up until St. Norbert scored a single run in the sixth inning on Allison Ardito's solo home run. The Green Knights would get the potential tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh but could not mount a rally.

St. Norbert was held to three hits in the opener. Addison Race took the complete-game loss, allowing six hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

The Green Knights took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first during the nightcap, with Ardito stroking an RBI double and Race bringing home a run on a groundout. Edgewood responded with a five-run bottom of the first. St. Norbert would counter with a four-run third inning, with Elizabeth Stuebs starting the rally with a wolo home run. Paige Diercks later lifted a sacrifice fly and Zoe Zasada poked a two-run single for a 6-5 lead.

Edgewood would score twice in the fourth inning and five times in the fifth inning to rally for the win.

Lilly Haase was 2-for-3 and Ardito was 2-for-4 for the Green Knights, who had seven hits. Stuebs took the loss, allowing nine hits and seven runs in four innings pitched.
