Reinhardt's Big Day Not Enough at Aurora

MONTGOMERY, Ill. - St. Norbert College had a big day offensively from Trevor Reinhardt but it wasn't enough as the Green Knights fell to No. 17-ranked Aurora University 13-7 and 21-8 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Jim Schmid Field.

Reinhardt was 7-for-9 in the doubleheader with a double and two home runs along with three runs scored and six runs batted in, but the Green Knights ultimately couldn't slow down the Spartans.

Reinhardt belted a two-run home run in the top of the first inning in the opener, but Aurora answered with three runs in the first and one in the second. The Green Knights scored once in the third on a Sebastien Dubois RBI single. The Spartans would counter with three in the fourth and one in the fifth for an 8-3 lead.

St. Norbert scored three runs in the seventh to cut its deficit to 8-6 on a Tommy Sheehan RBI double, a Carson Krumrei RBI groundout and a Sam O'Leary RBI single. Aurora would scored three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to take a 13-6 lead. The Green Knights would get a run in the top of the ninth on a Peyton Just home run.

Reinhardt finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI with a home run. Dubois was 3-for-4, while Sheehan, Just and O'Leary all had two hits apiece. Reinhardt took the loss on the mound.

In the nightcap, Aurora broke the game open with a six-run second inning. The Green Knights would answer with three in the top of the third on Devin Geary's two-run home run and an RBI double by Reinhardt. The Spartans scored one in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 12-3 lead. St. Norbert got a run in the sixth on Reinhardt's solo home run. Aurora would score one in the bottom of the sixth before the Green Knights scored four in the top of the seventh. Dubois had a bases-loaded walk, Reinhardt a two-run single and Dubois then scored on a wild pitch. Aurora would score eight runs in the bottom of the seventh to end the game early.

Reinhardt was 3-for-4 with four RBI. Noah Lindsley took the loss for the Green Knights.
