Green Knights Salvage Split at Rockford

LOVES PARK, Ill. - St. Norbert College salvaged a split of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Rockford University, dropping the opener 3-2 and taking the nightcap 3-2 at Sportscore Two.

The Green Knights fell behind 2-0 in the second game when the Regents scored single runs in the second and fourth innings. St. Norbert then rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Addison Race's RBI single brought the Green Knights to within 2-1, and Paige Diercks' RBI grounder tied the game at 2-2. Lilly Haase then singled to bring home Race for the go-ahead run.

St. Norbert set down Rockford in order in each of the last two innings to secure the win.

Race was 2-for-3 to lead St. Norbert, which had six hits. Elizabeth Stuebs got the complete-game win for St. Norbert, scattering five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

In the opener, Rockford took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Green Knights tied the game in the third inning when Allison Ardito tripled and scored on a single by Stuebs. St. Norbert took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when Ava Engwall's RBI single brought home Diercks. Rockford scored twice in the bottom of the fourth and those two runs held up for the win.

Stuebs was 2-for-4 for the Green Knights, who had nine hits. Race took the complete-game loss, allowing six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
