DE PERE - St. Norbert College kept Rockford University at bay throughout its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex, getting a sweep by scores of 7-2 and 3-1.
St. Norbert took an early lead in the opener when
Carson Krumrei's two-run double gave it a 2-0 lead. The Green Knights doubled their lead in the fourth inning when Krumrei posted a two-run single for a 4-0 lead.
Devin Geary's RBI single later in the inning put the Green Knights ahead 5-0.
Rockford scored twice in the top of the sixth, but St. Norbert got the runs back in its half of the inning on a two-run single by Geary.
St. Norbert had 12 hits in the opener. Geary was 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Krumrei was 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Jaden Holgado and
Tommy Sheehan were both 2-for-3, while
Trevor Reinhardt was 2-for-4.
Noah Lindsley got a complete-game win, allowing six hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
In the nightcap, the game was scoreless until St. Norbert mounted a two-out rally in the fifth inning.
Sam O'Leary and Holgado were both hit by pitches and Geary followed with a double into the left-field corner for a 2-0 lead. The Green Knights added a run in the sixth inning when Reinhardt reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Caden Uhlenbrauck then singled to bring Reinhardt home.
Rockford had a ninth-inning rally, loading the bases with nobody out. The Regents were only able to score one run as the Green Knights closed out the win.
Uhlenbrauck was 3-for-4 for the Green Knights, who had seven hits.
Cole Bzdawka went seven inning for the win, allowing three hits with five walks and nine strikeouts.
Luke Steebs worked the last two innings for the save.
