Men's Tennis Wins First-Ever Conference Championship

DE PERE – St. Norbert College's men's tennis team made history when it topped Marian University 9-0 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual at Green Bay Tennis Center.

The Green Knights (11-6, 6-1 NACC) clinched a share of the NACC regular-season championship with the win. It marked the first time in program history, which dates back to 1937-38, that St. Norbert has won a men's tennis conference title. The Green Knights had never previously finished higher than third place in conference standings.

St. Norbert got things rolling by sweeping doubles play in just under a half-hour. Brett Daniels and Adam Stacho topped Nate Hunter and Derek Wills 8-1 at No. 1, while David Vandenberg and Joe Pellechia blanked Payton Fox and Jared Luna 8-0 at No. 2. The No. 3 tandem of Anthony Michels and Brian Coulter won by default.

The Green Knights had three singles wins by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Daniels beat Hunter at No. 1, Michels blanked Luna at No. 3 and Vandenberg bested Ryan Azzaline at No. 5 without yielding a game.

Stacho turned in a 6-2, 6-0 win over Wills at No. 2, while Coulter defeated Fox 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.
