PLYMOUTH - St. Norbert College picked up its first doubleheader sweep of the season when it won games of 7-3 and 6-4 over Lakeland University in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action at Muskie Baseball Field.
Lakeland jumped ahead in the opener with a run in the first inning. St. Norbert scored twice in the top of the third when
Caden Uhlenbrauck singled in
Sebastien Dubois and
Trevor Reinhardt with two outs. The Muskies scored single runs in the third in and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead.
St. Norbert would rally in the seventh inning, scoring four times on two hits. Uhlenbrauck brought in a run on a grounder and
Peyton Just followed with a bases-loaded walk to force in a run.
Tommy Sheehan's two-run single then put St. Norbert up 6-3. The Green Knights got a tack-on run in the eighth inning when Uhlenbrauck's double brought home Reinhardt.
Sheehan was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Uhlenbrauck was 2-for-5 with four RBI. Reinhardt was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
Jace Midbon got the win for St. Norbert, allowing three hits and two earned runs with five walks and three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
Luke Steebs worked the last 3 1/3 innings scoreless, allowing two hits with no walks and five strikeouts to earn a save.
In the nightcap, St. Norbert scored two runs in the third inning on a Dubois two-run home run. The Green Knights added a run in the fifth on a
Carson Krumrei single to drive home Uhlenbrauck. Lakeland would score a run in the sixth to cut its deficit to 3-1.
St. Norbert scored twice in the eighth on a run-scoring double from
Trevor Cornell and an RBI single by
Devin Geary. The Green Knights got another run in the ninth on a Sheehan RBI single. Lakeland would mount a ninth-inning rally, scoring three runs on four hits. The Muskies were within 6-4 with two on and two out but Miles Freidman coaxed a groundout to end the game.
The Green Knights pounded out 16 hits in the nightcap. Geary had three hits, while Reinhardt, Uhlenbrauck, Sheehan, Krumrei, Cornell and
Jaden Holgado all had two hits apiece.
Jason Schroeder got the win, allowing one run on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings pitched. Freidman recorded the last two outs to earn his first career save.
