AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College had a happy getaway day as it wrapped up its Florida trip over Spring Break with a 5-3 win over SUNY Canton at Lake Myrtle Complex.
The game, which was completed in 1 hour 48 minutes, was scoreless through the first five innings. The Kangaroos broke the ice with a run in the top of the sixth.
The Green Knights answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, scoring all of their runs after two outs were recorded and nobody on base.
Caden Uhlenbrauck reached on an error and
Sebastien Dubois followed with a single.
Trevor Reinhardt then stroked his second three-run home run in three days to put the Green Knights ahead 3-1.
Jaden Holgado then reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch, and
Tommy Sheehan's single brought Holgado around for a 4-1 edge.
Canton got two runs back in the top of the eighth. The Kangaroos had cut the deficit to 4-3 and had runners at the corners with one out before a double play squelched the rally. St. Norbert picked up an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when Dubois singled with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Reinhardt's single brought in a valuable insurance run.
Canton got the leadoff runner on in the ninth but didn't score.
Jason Schroeder worked into the ninth to get the win for the Green Knights, allowing eight hits with one walk and three strikeouts in eight-plus innings pitched. Reinhardt came on to get the last three outs, striking out two for his first save of the season.
Reinhardt was 3-for-4 with four RBI, while Dubois was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
