THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - St. Norbert College opened the Cal-Lu-Fornia Tournament at California Lutheran University with a 3-0 setback to the host Kingsmen at Gilbert Arena. The Green Knights fell to Cal Lutheran 25-14, 25-14, 25-16.
St. Norbert was tied 5-5 in Set 1 before Cal Lutheran went on a 7-0 run. The Green Knights got back to within 13-9 before the Kingsmen pulled away. Cal Lutheran jumped out to a 6-0 lead in Set 2 before St. Norbert closed to 10-6 on a
Jake Krueger kill, but the host would eventually take an 18-10 lead. The Green Knights were in Set 3, trailing 13-10 after a
Barry Applewhite kill, but the Kingsmen then went on a 6-0 run.
The Green Knights hit .152 for the match, with 23 kills and 13 errors in 66 attempts.
Kaden Kornaus had seven kills, while
Jake Bettag and
Owen Knezevich had four kills apiece.
Eddie Pacula had 13 assists.
Kornaus had seven digs, while Pacula had six and Krueger five. Krueger and
Jackson Wolterstorff each had one block.
Cal Lutheran hit a lusty .418, with 40 kills and seven errors in 79 attempts. The Kingsmen also had 14 service aces. Ben Weber had 10 kills, while Taylor Marks had 31 assists and seven assists.
