ANGOLA, Ind. - St. Norbert College picked up a 9-2 win over Trine University to sweep a key two-game road series in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at Thunder Ice Arena.
The Green Knights (17-3-3, 13-0-1 NCHA) remained unbeaten in NCHA play with two games remaining. St. Norbert is idle next weekend before hosting Adrian College in a crucial series on Feb. 17-18 at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
St. Norbert wasted little time taking control, with
Morgan Olson scoring on the opening shift with a goal just 22 seconds into the game. The Green Knights then killed off a pair of penalties and went up 2-0 when
Ava Jaschke scored at 15:43. St. Norbert took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission after an
Eve Parker goal at 19:37.
The Green Knights scored three times in the second period, with Jaschke scoring a power-play goal at 5:13, followed by another Parker marker at 8:51.
Jordan Moore scored at 17:22 for a 6-0 lead.
Margaret Wohlleber pumped in a goal 52 seconds into the third period for a 7-0 lead. Trine got two goals at 8:17 and 11:16 of the third, but the Green Knights got those back when
Bailey Brunnhoelzl scored at 11:40 and Wohlleber again at 18:31.
Jaschke added three assists to her two goals for a five-point game, one point shy of the school record for points in a game. Parker had two assists to finish with four points. Brunnhoelzl had two assists and Wohlleber one to finish with three-point games. Olson had an assist to finish with two points.
Erin Huerta,
Josephine Mahlum and
Allison Jacobsen all had two assists each.
St. Norbert outshot Trine 54-10.
Ashley Ommen made eight saves for the Green Knights. Casey Frank turned away 45 shots for the Thunder.
The Green Knights were 1-for-3 on the power play, while Trine was 1-for-5.
