JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College pounded out 17 hits en route to a 16-7 win over Simpson College in the final game of a three-game weekend at Future Champions Sports Complex.
The Green Knights (2-1) scored in seven of nine innings and eventually built a lead as large as 12-1.
St. Norbert scored a run in the second inning on a
Will DeBruin single to drive in
Sebastien Dubois. The Green Knights added two runs in the third inning when
Devin Geary scoring on a wild pitch and Dubois driving in a run with a single. St. Norbert added two more runs in the fourth inning on a
Caden Uhlenbrauck single and Geary scoring on a wild pitch. The Green Knights went ahead 7-0 in the fifth on a two-run single by Geary.
The Green Knights took a 10-0 lead in the sixth on Dubois run-scoring triple, a
Peyton Just RBI single and a
Carson Krumrei sacrifice fly. The Storm scored a run in the sixth but St. Norbert got two runs in the seventh on a
Trevor Reinhardt RBI double and a bases-loaded walk by Krumrei. Simpson scored two in the seventh and one in the eighth. The Green Knights got four runs in the ninth, with three coming on a home run by
Huck Sprong and a Geary RBI single.
Geary went 4-for-7 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Uhlenbrauck was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Dubois was 2-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Reinhardt was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Jaden Holgado was 2-for-6.
Noah Lindsley went the first five innings to get the win, allowing just two hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
