Green Knights Open Season With Split

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened its season with a split of games against American Rivers Conference foes, falling to Loras College 17-7 before beating Simpson College 6-5 at Future Champions Sports Complex.

Against Simpson, the Green Knights rallied from a 5-1 deficit in the sixth inning. St. Norbert got back into the game with a three-run sixth inning. Trevor Reinhardt drove in Caden Uhlenbrauck on a single. Carson Krumrei then had a two-out, two-run single to drive in Sebastien Dubois and Reinhardt to get St. Norbert to within 5-4.

St. Norbert pulled ahead with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, with both runs scoring on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt. Simpson would get two runners on in the top of the ninth but didn't score.

Jason Schroeder got the win with two innings of relief, while Cole Bzdawka worked the ninth inning to nail down the save.

Against Loras, the Green Knights were tied 2-2 after one inning but the Duhawks broke the game open with a seven-run second inning. Eric Kramer hit a two-run home run in the first inning, while Uhlenbrauck had an RBI single and Reinhardt a two-run triple in the second inning to get back to within 9-5. Dubois also hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.

Dubois was 2-for-3, while Kramer and Uhlenbrauck were both 2-for-4.
